Professional Bed Bug Removal

We always recommend calling a professional vs. attempting to solve a bed bug problem yourself. Professionals have the experience, equipment and access to insecticides that aren't always as easily available to home owners. The biggest downside of hiring a bed bug exterminator is cost, which can include a charge for the inspection and a separate charge for treatment. Together this can cost $750 or more. For this reason we suggest:

Don't be shy about asking questions as they move through the home. Reputable contractors should be willing and able to explain to you what they're doing, why they're doing it and how they're going to treat your problem. Some also offer or refer dog services, employing specially trained dogs to sniff out evidence of bugs.

Be advised: Sprays merely kill the adult bed bugs which means the eggs that have already been laid will hatch into the same problem approximately one month later. This is why other exterminators will tell you it will take multiple treatments

Best Professional Bed Bug Treatment

Bed bugs are quickly becoming immune to more common bed bug sprays and associated chemicals.  This immunity is one reason experts think there has been a large resurgence in bed bug infestations over the past 10 years.  Additionally, some sprays can be dangerous to pets and children.  As a result, when pets or children are in the house, other treatment methods such as Diatomaceous Earth and Steaming are far more effective and safer options.

Effective use of these spray products requires that you follow the instructions exactly.  Failure to do so can result in just spreading the bugs further into your home as they run away from the chemicals.  Also, regardless of what anyone tells you, never…never use a fogger or “bug bomb”.  They don’t work, and will, in fact, escalate the problem and cause the bugs the infest additional areas of your home.

The most effective and painless way (well, as painless as it gets) to treat bed bugs is to hire a professional bed bug exterminator.   These are companies that specialize in killing bed bugs.  If you pick the right exterminator, they’ll have the equipment, resources and knowledge to rid your home of bed bugs as quickly as possible.

Getting rid of bed bugs can be difficult, but it can definitely be done. Reducing the number of places where they can hide can be an effective bed bug treatment, so make sure to clean up the clutter around your bed. If your bed is infested by bugs, covering your mattress and box springs with bed bug covers can be a useful preventative measure.

A bed bug infestation has nothing to do with cleanliness.  You can pick bed bugs up in even the finest hotels, and they can survive in even the cleanest homes.  But, you can help reduce your chances of a costly bed bug infestation by catching them early.

If none of these measures work, it is time to get bed bug treatment from the professionals. Command Pest Control has been in the business for over 20 years, offering pest control and bed bug treatment to residents of Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and all of South Florida.

Similar to heat, a bed bug steamer works by killing bed bugs and their eggs through excessive heat.  Steam has the additional advantage of penetrating cloth surfaces and can be used on larger items such as furniture, mattresses and box springs without the danger of fire.

Bed bug treatment becomes necessary as soon as you notice them. You can feel the itch and a sharp but fleeting pain when the bugs bite you. Waking up in the morning and finding your arms, legs, and other exposed body parts covered with inflamed bites are also good reasons to find effective bed bug treatment as soon as possible.

Bed Bug Treatment Cancer

There really isn’t any one “best” treatment technique.  The best one will be the one that’s most effective for you, with the least amount of cost.  The trick of course is determining what that “magic” combination is.   To start out, we recommend using a combination of Diatomaceous Earth, Steaming, and an effective and safe spray.  If you can afford it, add heat treatment into the mix as well or replace the sprays with heat.  Be sure to check out our bed bug tips as well.

While highly effective, sprays can be dangerous, especially if not used correctly or when children or pets are involved.   If you have children or pets in your home, we would recommend using different treatment options or trying one of the natural spray options.

These heating products can be effectively used to minimize bed bug introduction into your home and used as a highly effective treatment option.  Heat has proven to be the single most effective solution available right now.

We would highly recommend getting a few price quotes from local exterminators first, just to see if the cost is within your budget.  If not, then you can begin to explore some of the do it yourself treatment options we discuss in great detail below.

Bed Bug Treatment And Electronics

Bed bugs are small, red or brown parasitic insects that bite you and feed on our blood. They hide in the cracks of beds, the mattress itself, box springs, bed frames, and headboards. If you are infested with these pesky bugs, then you need to seek professional bed bug treatment.

Best Bed Bug Treatment Products

On average, the cost of a one-time treatment of bed bugs from a professional exterminator is around $1500.00!  Don’t forget too, that completely removing your bed bug infestation often requires multiple treatments.

Best Bed Bug Treatment Products

Before we jump into the details of treatment options, the single most effective option for treating and killing bed bugs is to use a professional exterminator and more specifically, one that uses heat treatment.  But, while highly effective, using a professional is also very costly and often beyond the financial means of the average person.  Given the high cost, we recommend trying to treat the issue yourself first, as the treatment strategies generally very well work if done correctly, and can save you some significant cash.

Many of these sprays contain the same products and pesticides used by professional exterminators, just in less concentrated solutions.  When you buy a reputable and proven product,  the product will come with a full set of treatment instructions.

Bed bugs can hide in unusual places and can remain undetected for long periods.  However, these pests also tend to stay close together and have a distinctively sweet, yet unpleasant smell.  Blood spotting on mattresses and nearby furnishings are telltale signs of a bed bug infestation.  Their bites can leave itchy, welts on the skin and can cause allergic reactions, such as severe itching.

Habitat: Cracks and crevices including mattress seams, sheets, furniture, behind baseboards, electrical outlet plates and picture frames. Often found in hotels, where they can travel from room to room and in visitors’ luggage.

The problem?  Professional bed bug exterminators can be expensive.  Don’t misunderstand us, they are worth the money spent, but the fact is many people that have bed bugs just can’t afford a professional exterminator.

The good news is with the growth of bed bug infestations worldwide, and especially in the United States, more and more pest control companies are purchasing the necessary equipment to exterminate bed bugs and they additionally have staff that are highly experienced in dealing with them.  This drives costs down.

Look for these telltale signs of a bed bug infestation: -Bite symptoms -Small brown (fecal) spots on bedding -Small blood smears on sheets -You may also see small, translucent bed bug eggs in your bedroom.

Effective bed bug treatment often requires more than one treatment.  In fact, treating bed bugs often involves multiple uses of sprays and pesticides.  This holds true for professional exterminators as well.  Read more about bed bug sprays here.  You can also see our top picks for most effective sprays.

You must also wash and heat your bed sheets, blankets and pillow cases regularly to help minimize bed bugs. You must also take care to clean your laundry hamper, as bed bugs and their eggs can hide in it.

Various manufacturers make bed bug vacuums that are specifically designed to deal with bed bugs.  An important note about these vacuums is that they are highly effective against bugs that you can see, they are not effective at removing the bugs you can’t see or for removing bed bug eggs.  Bed bug eggs are sticky, and can often get trapped in the vacuum cleaner or not picked up at all.  A really effective and highly rated bed bug vacuum is the Atrix VACEXP-IPM Express Plus Hepa IPM Vacuum.

General Bed Bug Information

It is important to carefully bag or box all loose items when preparing for an extermination, as the bed bugs will attempt to hide in any available space. These items should be treated and/or inspected before placing them back in the rooms. All electronics and appliances will also need to be unplugged and moved away from the walls.

The disadvantage is that it’s very expensive, prohibitively expensive for most of us.  It can cost well over $1000 per room depending on what professional you are using and your living situation.  Also, it really has to be emphasized that it needs to be done correctly.  The tricky part of this method is that it’s very difficult to heat up the wall voids in your home.  If those aren’t heated up hot enough to kill the bed bugs, they can survive in those wall voids and re-infest your home.  So, we really recommend that if you use this method you get some kind of guarantee that if you get re-infested they are going to come out and re-heat treat your whole home for free.

See, here’s the deal – Rubbing alcohol kills bed bugs and is highly effective.  Get a little rubbing alcohol on a bed bug and it dies almost immediately.   Here’s the problem, and what these scams don’t tell you – The bed bugs you see are not the problem, it’s the bed bugs you don’t see.  Miss a few, and you didn’t solve your bed bug problem at all.

What we learned is that on average, bed bug treatment costs .75 cents to 1.00 per square foot.  So if you have a 2000 square foot home, the cost of one treatment will be $1,500 – $2,000.  Now note, that’s for the first treatment.  Depending on your particular infestation, 2 or 3 treatments may be required, bumping the total cost up to $6,000 or more just for the treatment.

One of the first tell-tale signs of an infestation of bed bugs is going to be the bites and the resulting rash on your skin. Many people are allergic to bed bugs so their reactions might be somewhat more severe.

Carefully lift the mattress, bed frame, headboard, and nearby objects which bed bugs may be hiding under. These insects tend to remain within five feet of a potential food source, making the search radius smaller. Again, you may locate exoskeletons, even if there are no live bugs visible.

Depending upon the exterminator, you may not be permitted to use any boxes. Some companies will permit plastic or Tupperware, but cardboard is porous and provides places for the bed bugs to hide. Clean any plastic bins to store items in and seal tightly.

Professional Bed Bug Removal Process

Bed bugs are small and adept at sneaking into your belongings. They can be picked up in hotels, gym, schools, offices, or anywhere else an infestation may be present. They have also been known to be present in refurbished mattresses, although regulations have greatly reduced the risk of purchasing a bugged bed.

professional bed bug heat treatment cost

Another factor that you’ll want to consider is replacement of furniture, clothing, mattresses, linens and other household items.  Unfortunately bed bugs produce a lot of excrement, and that excrement stains.   As you follow the preparation instructions prior to treatment, you’ll often find some of your stuff is just plain disgusting, and will need to thrown away and replaced.  You’ll want to factor this into your overall cost and be prepared for it.

It is also necessary for the exterminator that uses pesticides to return in 2 weeks to reapply chemicals as it is almost impossible to kill all bugs with one application. Remember chemicals usually won’t kill the eggs as eggs have a protective coating to protect the embryo. And they may hatch a week or two later—depending on the room temperatures. Warmer homes would see eggs hatch sooner than colder temperatures. It is for this reason (eggs hatching) that pesticides must be reapplied after the initial treatment. How chemicals are applied is also very important because it has to be where it contacts bed bugs, but also where it does not have extended contact with human skin.

Professional Bed Bug Treatment Options

Don't be shy about asking questions as they move through the home. Reputable contractors should be willing and able to explain to you what they're doing, why they're doing it and how they're going to treat your problem. Some also offer or refer dog services, employing specially trained dogs to sniff out evidence of bugs.

When a bed bug feeds, its mouth parts penetrate the host painlessly and blood is pushed up through the feeding tube using natural pressure from the pierced blood vessel. A secondary tube injects anticoagulants into the hosts skin to prevent clotting. Once full, the bed bug retreats in order to molt or digest. Contact with the host is generally less than 20 minutes long, and feeding between five and ten minutes.

Exposure to high heat or cold temperatures is a good method to get rid of bed bugs in one day. High temperatures can be either high heat or extremely cold temperatures. Cryonite, is a freezing agent that kills bed bugs on contact, but it is not 100% effective against bedbugs the way that high heat is.

Calling in a professional pest exterminator can be very beneficial to your bed bugs treatment plans. Some may hesitate to call in the pros; however, there are a few good reasons why you should consider them.

These are cases where people are so grossed out that they throw away all of their beds, dressers, recliners, sofas and other items. They may purchase all new beds, linens, bedbug certified mattress protectors, and storage boxes to store clean items in, and still not rid themselves of these blood sucking pesky critters. Why? Because they COULD NOT throw away their baseboards, window frames, crown molding, wall sockets, hardwood floor cracks and other places where these bugs will nest and hide. Remember bed bugs is just what they get called, they hide in any crack, crevice or fold that is near a sleeping or resting person.

If you are already suffering from an infestation, it is important to avoid spreading these pests to others. Many prevention methods are simple and easy to incorporate into your daily life even when your infestation has been eliminated. Remember that bed bugs are small and may hide in tiny places you can’t see.

Professional Bed Bug Heat Treatment

The cost of an inspection varies depending upon the size of your home and local rates. In some cases, you may be able to get the inspection at no cost. However, it generally costs between $50 and $200. Canine inspections typically cost between $300 and $600 for the average home. Larger buildings such as apartments or hotels will run between $900 and $1200 for a canine unit.

***The AVERAGE cost to have a home treated for bed bugs is about $1.00 (one dollar) per square foot. So, if you have a home that is 1500 square feet, you are looking at around $1,500. to have your home treated. This average will vary depending on type of structure and level of infestation.  Most heat companies will charge about 30% more for Heat Treatment, over the traditional “chemical bed bug treatments.” It is pricier, but the process is complete in one day as it kills all stages of bed bugs including the eggs. It is highly effective when done correctly, but home must be de-cluttered with no stacks of items sitting around. Heat Treatment takes specialized Heat equipment and knowledgeable technicians to provide safe and effective one day kill of bed bug infestations.  Heat Treatments are not always 100%, failure can occur if you have cold spots in which technicians do not apply organic dust or pesticides to these areas. Heat treatment could also fail if home is too cluttered causing areas to be insulated or protected from the high heat. Professionals will reschedule heat treatment of the home if it has not been de-cluttered properly.

For a full bed bug removal, expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $1,500, depending on the method you choose and the experience of your exterminator. Most will charge you a fee for consultation, which includes visiting your home and doing a thorough inspection.

Heat Is the Preferred Treatment Method: When you use a heat company you will save time and trouble. A professional heat company is generally able to heat the home within a 5 to 10 hour period; you save time/money in not having to laundry ALL of your belongings (you will need to heat clothes in dryer that are over-crammed in drawers and bag them) nor do you need to throw away any of your furniture. It is our companies opinion that heat is the best way to go if you want to solve the problem quickly, efficiently and if you have the financial means to have a professional solve the infestation. A professional bed bug Heat Treatment company will provide an agreed contract prior to doing the heat treatment. However, if you do not have the financial ability to hire a professional pest company for a Heat Treatment, then there are other routes you can take, which will be discussed below.

Once we determine that there is a bed bug infestation we give the client an estimate and a to-do list. There must be a bed bug, bed bug eggs, or bed bug castings found before a treatment is done. If you are unable to find the bed bugs yourself, we do offer a K-9 bed bug sniffing dog team to determine if you indeed have them or not, but most people will know if they have bed bugs or not, especially after they have them for 2 or 3 months and there are more bedbugs to find.

You absolutely have to kill all the bed bugs, including the ones you see on your bed, and the ones in your walls, in your mattress, under your furniture, and in your linens.  Spraying alcohol or some other cheap bed bug spray won’t do that.  You often have to combine bed bug steamers, bed bug sprays, and bed bug powders.   Sound complex?  It’s not really, you just have to follow the right process, which we teach you on our Bed Bug Treatment page.  Best part, the information is absolutely free (yea, I know, that sounds too good to be true, but in this case it really is!)  The recommended products and equipment of course will cost money, but the advice and tips are free.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bed Bug Removal:

Bed Bugs In Books? Help?
Recently I Got Some Books From An Anual Used Book Sale Where All Books Are A Dollar. There Hasn'T Been Any Reports This Year, But I Know A Couple Of Years Ago, It Was Reported That Bed Bugs Were Found In The Books They Sold. Because Of That, I Have A Few Questions... 1) How Can You Tell If A Book Had Bed Bugs? Is There Some Sort Of Test? 2) How Can I Get Rid Of Bed Bugs In Books If They Do Have Them? Do I Put Them In The Freezer? In The Oven? I'Ve Heard Of Both Options But I Don'T Know Which One Would Actually Work. Thanks

Bed bugs don't like heat. To see if there are bugs in your books, use a hair dryer on high setting - it won't kill the bugs, but they'll run out of the book.
Clothing has to go in a clothes dryer on high for thirty minutes - that would probably ruin a book.
I think your best bet is to buy NuVan strips and seal your books in a heavy plastic bag. Google NuVan Prostrip to see where to buy them.
"Nuvan ProStrips for Bed Bugs:
For Control of Bedbugs and Bedbug Eggs

NUVAN PROSTRIP may be used to control crawling bedbug nymphs and adults exposed to product vapors for 48 hours. In difficult to treat areas, a minimum treatment time of 72 hours will provide better results.

NUVAN PROSTRIP may be used to control bed bugs that have entered various items in an infested structure including, but not limited to: electronics, appliances, footwear, art work, collectibles, plush toys, clocks, radios, wall hangings, telephones, computers, printers, mattresses, box springs, books, lamps, furniture and other such items. Place infested items in a suitable plastic bag, poly sheeting, container or room that is closed to contain the NUVAN PROSTRIP treatment. Plastic bags or poly sheeting should be at least 2 mils thick. The closed volume for treatment should not exceed the volume to be treated for the size of the NUVAN PROSTRIP used.
Take care to avoid direct contact of the NUVAN PROSTRIP with the surface of items being treated. Seal items in the containment for a minimum of 48 hours to kill bedbug nymphs and adults. To kill any bedbug eggs, if suspected to be present, seal items in the treated space for seven days. Seal plastic bags and poly sheeting with as much air space around the treated article as is practical as this will enhance the exposure to the product vapors. Proper seal can be attained by any appropriate manner such as the use of tape, twist ties or other means. Professionals should test for adequate seal by testing for the escape of air from the sealed bag. Identify sealed treatment by a label indicating a pesticide treatment is in process that should not be disturbed by unauthorized persons. The label should include the date, pest professional person or company responsible and contact telephone number. When treatment is completed, remove treated items from the treatment in awell ventilated area and aired out for a period of not less than two hours.

Bed Bug Proof Material?
Is There Any Sort Of Chair/Sofa That Is, Or Maybe Mostly, Bed Bug Proof? I Ask Because I Wan'T To Buy Used, And Thus Relatively Cheap, Furniture To Furnish My Apartment But Am Afraid Of Bed Bugs And Whatnot. Would A Vinyl Chair Be A Good Idea? Or Leather? Thanks

Yes, leathers and vinyl would be better choices, but I don't think they'd be 100% fool proof. There are still stuffings and materials used inside the couch and under the seats/cushions. I don't think there is anything 100% fool proof other than 100% plastic.

How To Sue A Hotel For Bed Bug Bites And Clothes Replacement?
I Am Wanting To Sue A Hotel In Va For Bed Bug Bites My Family Sustained In May Of This Year. The Hotel Denied That There Were Any Bugs In Their Rooms. My Wife Was Smart Enough To Film The Bugs Their Shells, Egg Cases And The Bites. When The Hotel Staff Saw This They Admitted To Us That It Looked Like Bed Bugs And Brought In An Exterminator Which Also Said It Was Bed Bugs. We Filed A Complaint With The Health Dept Also. The Hotel Gave Us A Roll Of Quarters And Some Detergent To Wash Our Clothes And Moved Us To Another Room And Said They Were Sorry. We Moved To A Another Hotel Beside This Hotel And Noticed That Mattresses Were Moved Outside The Dumpsters Of The Hotel Where This Occurred Within The Next Couple Of Days (Which My Wife Filmed The Mattresses Also). My Wife Went To The Doctor For A Few Bites And We Bought New Clothes. Can I Sue This Hotel For This And Get Compensation For The Bites And Clothes. If So Do I Have To Go Back To Va To File This Or Can I File In My Home State? What Court Does This Fall Under And Where Do I Start? Thanks

?? You STAYED in the hotel after seeing the bugs? Case dismissed.

You did not need new clothes, you needed to WASH your clothes. That is all. Sue them for the cost of cleaning, assuming you had stayed for a while before noticing the bugs, none of which makes sense.

If you do decide to waste your time and money on a lawsuit, you have to do it in the state in which it occurred.

Uv Light Kill Bed Bugs?
I'M Going On A Trip Soon And I Am Looking To Buy These Germ Guardian Uv-C Light Sanitizers. I Was Wondering If Uv Lights Kill Bed Bugs Too?

No. They kill some bacteria by damaging their DNA & RNA, but that requires that the light penetrate the organism. It will never do that for insects.

Can Bed Bugs Kill A Pregnant Womans Unborn Baby During Early Pregnancy?
Can Bed Bugs Eat The Baby And Kill The Baby If You Have Your Period While Pregnant?

First, you don't have your period while pregnant.
Next, bed bugs can't get inside you and bite the baby. Bed bugs don't transmit any diseases, so they are no particular threat to a pregnant woman- just a nuisance.

Do Cats Eat Bed Bugs?

Gross, I hope not. Most indoor cats will kill a bug but don't always eat it anyway. But I'm sure if the cat somehow managed to get a bed bug and kill it, it might just eat it. But it's unlikely. Bed bugs are master hiders, and they run pretty fast, too. They are also pretty small. And I don't know if cats would like them too much since their bodes are mostly comprised of your blood. They definitely won't take care of your bed bug problem, if you have one. Bed bugs don't normally bite dogs and cats, but they could, especially if you weren't around for a while and one got hungry.

Home Remedies On Bed Bug Repelent .Com?

A great way to get rid of bed bugs is with lavender oil, they hate it.

Then give your bed a good cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and wash everything that is on it in hot water, rinse the bedding with lavender oil in the water. Also use lavender on the linen and in the carpet under the bed, or in the water you wash the floor with. Clean the walls and suck out any cracks or holes around the bed and surrounding area. They are small and live in the strangest places.
Another good thing to use is rosemary oil.
You will have to get an exterminator in to get rid of them properly.

How Do You Safely Remove A Bed Bug Cover Without Letting The Bugs Get Out?
I Have A Bed Bug Cover On My Dorm Mattress, But How Would I Go About Removing It Without Letting The Bugs Out All Over My Room? Also, How Would You Recommend Washing Or Removing The Bedbugs From It So I Can Use It Again?

If you have a cover on the mattress for prevention of bedbugs, but haven't seen any, you can take it off, wash & dry it. If you have bedbugs & can see them inside the cover, do not remove it. These covers are meant to be left on permanently. They really don't need to be washed unless the bed's been peed on. Just wash your sheets as usual. If there are bugs inside & you unzip it, at least a few will get out. Also make sure no holes appear in the cover, if you find holes use a strong tape to cover them. Bedbugs can live inside these covers for up to 18 mos+ without feeding.

What To Do About Bed Bugs In The Carpet?
I'M Pretty Sure I Have Bed-Bugs In The Carpet Of My Bedroom. I Always Spot Smallish, Black Bugs With A Reddish Tone On My Carpet Or On Piles Of Clothes On The Ground, And I Occasionally Get Small, Red Bug Bites On My Arms And Feet (Might Not Me From The Bugs, But I'M Pretty Sure They Are!) How Do I Rid My Bedroom Of These Vermin? It'S Pretty Terrifying.

I work for a pest control company, and Bed Bugs are really hard to get rid of. You can, however, minimize them if you can not afford a $400-$1000 service (depending on size of apt/home).

First, put all your clothes from your dresser and closet into large black plastic bags and put them in the kitchen. Seal them tight. Then, do the same for any sheets, curtains, etc. After that, vaccumm the carpet, and make sure to move the furniture around and vaccuum behind night stands, and even the baseboards and behind hanging pictures. Also, vaccuum your bed - take the mattress off and vaccum the box spring, all sides. try to get down into the crevices of the box spring and mattress. Also, vaccuum the bed fram, headboard, foot board, etc. Vaccuum inside the closet and dressers.

Take all those clothes and linens and take them to the dryer and all you need to do is out them on high heat for 10 minutes - no need to wash everything - it's the heat that kills the Bed Bugs.

You may want to do the same for the living room, couch, side tables, carpet in that room if you spend a lot of time in there.

This will not guarantee them to go away, especially since being you are not a professional, you do not know exactly what you are looking for and which areas to concentrate on, but it will minimize the effects. Also, you may have to do it more than once.

Also, they might not be bed bugs - they could be fleas, some kind of beatle, who knows.

Good luck!

How To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs?
Me And My Fiance Recently Found Out We Have A Major Infestation Of Bed Bugs. We Called The Local Exterminator. They We Giving Us An Estimate Of Around $1,000. There Is No Way We Can Afford That On Our Pay. Is There Anything We Can Buy At Home Depot, Or Other Stores That Can Help Us Get Rid Of The Little Bastards? Also What Could I Do In Case They Made Their Way Into My Computer?

There is a great DIY trap that is shown to be as effective, if not more, than the leading extermination stuff. http://lancaster.unl.edu/pest/bugs.shtml I hope this helps! remember, bed bugs cannot crawl up metal, so you might want to invest in a high metal frame for your bed, instead of wood. Another way to help repel them is through using essential oils. Citronella, rosemary, sage, mint, neem, and lemon are all good repellents, and smell good. dilute with water and sprinkle on your mattress, and linens. (caution, some oils can stain). Although, if you want to play nasty, i recommend diatomacious earth. It is the crushed shells of diatoms, small silicon shelled creatures, so tiny that they do not cut or harm humans or pets, but one swipe against a bugs exoskeleton and they will dehydrate and die. sprinkle it around the edges of the room on the carpet, and especially around your bed. this will also kill spiders, roaches, and every creepy crawly that steps foot onto it.

Bed bugs can only survive on the fabric material. They don't live on the leather, but if the lining is cotton or any fabric then you need to wash all those jackets.

Good luck on the pest control. I had them before, but bed bugs had never gone away until I used Bed bug powder. It is natural powder, so no toxic ingredients and it worked great!!

Mattress Topper Memory Foam Help?
Hi There, I Recently Bought The Mattered Topper Memory Foam 2In, A Fitted Sheet, And Bed Bug Mattress Protector. By The Way I Have Queen Size Bed. I Want To Know Which One Should Be On Top And Which On The Bottom? Maybe The Memory Foam Topper Should Be On The Top? But If I Put Fitted Sheet On It Will Not Protect It Since I Cant Wash The Memory Foam. I Can'T Cover It With The Mattress Protector Because Its 2 In, Which Too Tight If I Got The Queen Size Mattress Protector. Is There Anyway I Can Protect The Memory Foam As Well? If So What'S The Name Of It? Please Help Me, Any Suggestions Will Be Great Thanks In Advance!

The memory foam topper needs to be directly on the mattress. Then the mattress protector. If your mattress protector is too tight, you need to go exchange it for another one or buy another one. Then the sheet.

If I Sleep In A Bed With Bed Bugs Can I Transfer It To A Clean Bed?
I Slept In My Boyfriend'S Bed. And I Found It, He Had Bed Bugs. I Have Been Itching Like Crazy Ever Since. I Thought It Was Just My Pregnancy Making My Skin Act Weird. Do Bed Bugs Make Your Skin Itch? Could I Have Transferred Them To My Clean Bed/Environment?

Yes. Bed bugs make your skin itch because they like to burrow and plant their eggs in dark, warm places such as skin creases (elbows, backs of knees, etc). As for transferring them to bedding, this is a huge problem because once you have any of their material on you (such as eggs or the bugs themselves) it quickly spreads to all your linens (bedding, towels, etc). YOU need to contact your local health authorities for proper instructions on how to rid your entire household of the bugs. I hope you are able to get things under control quickly. Good luck.

Moving And Getting Rid Of Bed Bugs?
Please Help! Almost Two Months Ago I Saw One Bed Bug In My Closet And One On Top Of My Bed. It Was Full Grown. After That I Never Saw One Again. I Dont See Any Bites On Me And I Do Have Mattress Protection. Im Moving Next Week And I Want To Make Sure That I Dont Bring These Horrible Things With Me. All Im Taking Is Shoes, Clothes (Which I'Ll Dry On High Heat Before Moving), Dvd Player, Tv, Books, Dishes ,Mirror And Three Boxes Of Random Stuff. I Put Books And Cosmetics In Large Zip Lock Bags. What Else Should I Do To 100% Make Sure I Dont Bring Those Things With Me. Thank You!!!!

Inside the covering of the bed, put in some Boric Acid (powder ant killer) Place some in all the boxes, books, and random stuff. You can use little baggies with some holes in them. This stuff dries out the hard shell of all bugs like ants, fleas, roaches and bed bugs. Do not breathe it in. You can vacuum it off when you get to your new place. It is easy to wash off of hands but don't get it into your eyes or mouth. Gloves would work when unpacking. They do sell those extra large zip bags for stuff. Have a pleasant move

Bed Bugs And No Hot Water? Help?
We Have Recently Started To Find Little Bugs At Night And Today We Are Cleaning Everything And I Mean Everything. I Read Somewhere To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs You Need To Wash Everything In Hot Water But The Problem Is That There Is No Hot Water Because Something Broke And I Am Asking What Do I Do. How Do You Get Rid Of Them (We Found Only A Few For Right Now). And How Do You Fix That Water Problem.

Bed bugs are a real problem. 1st a Dryer is all that's needed for clothing or stuffed toys ETC. (about 30min will do it)
Vac. and clean every thing you can. Get rid of the vac. bag and any cleaning towels; rags ETC. Look for a nest of bed bugs in the mattress or head bord and remove.

TIP: Get some help. (eggs have been know to live more that 6 months in cold weather) Have the home sprayed asap. Its the only way. Sorry!!! But shop around they may not go away after the 1st spray. Can be pricey. Also they will have a list of do's and don'ts

TIP: After drying the clothing put in a black trash bag and put in your car. The heat in the car will keep them safe to use.

Note: The eggs from bed bugs are sticky and stick to every thing.

TIP: Bed bugs don't fly. Keep the bed away from wall and night stands You can put a "small" amount of oil in a rubber bowl or container to keep them from crawling up the bed legs. Set the legs in the container and then pour in the oil. (when this is all over be very careful when removing)

TIP: Get a very good mattress cover or use 6 ply plastic and tape very well or get a new mattress and cover.

TIP: Empty out dressers; chest of draws and any thing you can before pest guy gets there so he can spray them too. The one that's missed alot is the closet shelf.

Main thing is to keep you from getting bite at night.

Will need more info on the hot water problem...could be as easy as the relighting the water heater to it being completely out.

Bed Bugs And Or Ticks?
We Just Moved Into This Motel Room For A Couple Of Weeks, Or I Hope It Is Not Longer. Anyways I Have Bites All Over My Arm. When We Looked At The Beds Here In The Room The Bedding Is Full Of Bugs. My Daughter Says The Ones She Sees Are Bed Bugs Yet My Husband Seen One That Looked Like A Tick. How Do I Know What They Are And How Do I Get Rid Of Them? Are They Harmful? Any Information On Both Are Great Please!

Those are bed bugs. Ticks would stay on your body where as bed bugs will only feast on you at night. They can carry Hepatitus B and plagues. In which you can suffer from delusional parasitosis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delusional_parasitosis
and PTSD (Post-tramatic stress disorder) That I would say would not be good for anyone in your family to have. You have the right since you are tennants in the motel to take this up with them. If they do not provide proper accomidations that are bug free and sterial you could claim negligance on their part or something.

All of your clothes must be washed and the whole room checked because that is how bedbugs spread from room to room. Its most likely that all the rooms are infected or someone who was staying in your room before you was infected and brought the critters with them. You should be moved to another room and it needs to be checked for bugs because if they can travel easily from room to room while the housekeepers are taking out the dirty linens.

To get rid of them you should get a new bed and carpet but some hotels and motels dont want to pay for that so a bug guy would have to come in a spary then they would have to scrub each bed and floor removing the eggs that are attached in the bed. Its pretty nasty and I heard of a case on the news about one family who brought in an infested bed that someone gave them and it spread thoughout the whole apartment complex they had to quarinteen everyone and all of their possessions and let the bug guys come in and kill all of them.
