Clermont Indiana Bed Bug Bites Home Treatment

Professional Bed Bug Removal

We always recommend calling a professional vs. attempting to solve a bed bug problem yourself. Professionals have the experience, equipment and access to insecticides that aren't always as easily available to home owners. The biggest downside of hiring a bed bug exterminator is cost, which can include a charge for the inspection and a separate charge for treatment. Together this can cost $750 or more. For this reason we suggest:

Don't be shy about asking questions as they move through the home. Reputable contractors should be willing and able to explain to you what they're doing, why they're doing it and how they're going to treat your problem. Some also offer or refer dog services, employing specially trained dogs to sniff out evidence of bugs.

Be advised: Sprays merely kill the adult bed bugs which means the eggs that have already been laid will hatch into the same problem approximately one month later. This is why other exterminators will tell you it will take multiple treatments

Getting rid of bedbugs is not an easy process, and most cases of bedbug infestation will require treatment by a pest control expert. Bedbugs can survive for up to a year without feeding, so they may persist even in unoccupied rooms.

This is a great option when you’re away from home and can’t easily get some of the other treatments for bed bug bites described above. Even when we’re on vacation, we typically always have toothpaste handy!

Method: Pour a hot bath and add powdered oatmeal into it. Alternatively, if you don’t want to go through the hassle of taking a bath, you can mix the powdered oatmeal with warm water to make a thick paste, which you can apply to the bites.

Itch is the other major skin related symptom. Avoid itching the spots, since this can introduce infection. In most allergic people, symptoms appear within an hour. Others can have a reaction which is delayed several days after being bitten. After symptoms appear, the problem should resolve  itself without any treatment in 3 to 5 days.

Essential oils can often help with various ailments. Lavender essential oil is often said to have analgesic effects due the linalool compound in the oil. Tea tree essential oil has antiseptic properties and is used to treat many skin conditions. Both tea tree and lavender essential oils can help relieve itchinesses on insect bites for several hours after application directly to the bites.

Severe reactions to bed bug bites can often last for 3-4 weeks, although reactions this severe are rare.  Remember though, unless the bed bugs themselves are treated and killed, the biting will most likely continue, resulting in an ongoing reaction that can last months or years.

However, as with any insect bites, they can get really itchy. And if you scratch them too much, bacteria from under your fingernails can infect the broken skin. Antiseptic creams or lotions can help if you do get a skin infection from scratching the bites too much, and if that doesn’t help, then we recommend seeing a doctor to check.

Adult bedbugs are reddish brown in color, appearing more reddish after feeding on a blood meal. Nymphs are clear in color and appear bright red after feeding. The wings of bedbugs are vestigial, so they cannot fly. However, they are able to crawl rapidly.

As shown in these pictures of bed bug signs, a combination of bed bug bite reactions and other proof such as fecal marks or even capturing a live insect for identification are needed.  Note how in these pictures bed bug symptoms such as bites vary between people.

There are many insects that could leave bites that look like bed bug bites (for example, mosquito bites are very commonly mistaken for bed bug bites). And there are many allergies and rashes that could also produces bumps in your skin that look very similar to bed bug bites. Even professionals often have trouble determining whether someone’s bites are from bed bugs or not.

While rare, severe allergic reactions may require an injection of an antihistamine or corticosteroid or epinephrine (adrenaline).  If you have severe swelling, trouble breathing or feel nauseous, seek immediate medical assistance.

A paste made from combining baking soda, AKA sodium bicarbonate, and a little bit of water can stop the itching by drying out the skin around the bed bug bites. This is an easy treatment to create since most of us have baking soda in our pantry or can easily purchase it at the grocery store.

The most common ailment from bed bug bites is an infection due to scratching.   Excess scratching can result in open wounds around the bite area which can quickly and easily become infected.  Infections like this can be serious.

Bedbugs are small oval non-flying insects that belong to the insect family Cimicidae, which includes three species that bite people. Adult bedbugs reach 5 mm-7 mm in length, while nymphs (juveniles) are as small as 1.5 mm. Bedbugs have flat bodies and may sometimes be mistaken for ticks or small cockroaches. Bedbugs feed by sucking blood from humans or animals.

Bed bugs don’t really bite, instead hey pierce your skin with a long beak.  The beak contains saliva that not only thins your blood but also numbs your nerves so you don’t feel the bite.  The bite itself does not cause the itching, but the saliva can.

Bed bugs are known to be great hitchhikers and commonly spread by hitchhiking.   They move from one site to another by travelling on items such as clothing, furniture, luggage bags, boxes, carpets and bedding.  Bed bugs do not care if your environment is clean or dirty, all they need is a warm host and plenty of creaks and crevices to hide in.

Bedbugs mainly feed on human blood.  If human blood isn’t immediately available, they will find other sources of blood like rodents, bats, and domestic animals like cats and dogs.  If a bedbug fed from another animal it could carry various diseases or bacteria, however, there is no current proof that bedbugs could transmit the disease.

Method: To create the paste, mix enough baking soda with water to form a paste. Then apply the paste on the bites to reduce the itchiness. Make sure the paste is thick enough that it won’t just run off your skin. Leave the paste on for several hours until it is completely dry. Then wash it off gently with warm water. Some people have suggested that adding salt into the mixture as well can help.

In highly allergic people, the reactions can include urticaria (slightly elevated patches or wheals) that are redder than any surrounding skin or a bullous rash (pus-filled bumps that are larger than 5mm) and skin blisters.

Anti-itch creams like hydrocortisone are usually the most popular bed bug bites treatments people turn to. However, we find a bit of lavender or tea tree essential oil on a bite can also help reduce the itching for hours. If the bites swell, then ice packs are a great option to help calm things down.

At home, do not store luggage under your bed. Ideally, luggage should be stored in a basement or garage. Other tips you can take to reduce the chances of bedbugs infesting your home include removing clutter, vacuuming frequently, and keeping belongings separate when taken to school or work.

One approach is to bring in an exterminator from a reputable company that provides free quotes such as Home Advisor (866-214-8380). The exterminator can confirm that you actually have bed  bugs and outline a plan of attack. It often takes three treatments from a professional before the bed  bugs are gone.

These are only temporary measures. We always recommend hiring a professional, experienced exterminator.  Start by calling Home Advisor (1-877-233-1145), since they provide free quotes.  If you decide to treat the home yourself, be sure to buy a bed bug kit that contains the combination of products needed to do the job right.

A skin reaction alone is not enough to determine if you have a bed bug problem as bites can be caused by other insects and factors such as an allergy to food or something in the environment. Because of this, its important to confirm any suspicion of bed bugs with other signs such as  fecal markings on the bed.

Bed bug bites are an allergic reaction and are commonly seen in individuals that are allergic or suffer from urticaria, which are inflamed, swollen red areas at each location where a bite took place (it is a single skin puncture, not a bite). Over 50% of people show no skin reaction. This does not mean that they were not bitten. It just means they are not allergic to the bites.

If your bites are very itchy, you can use calamine lotion or another over-the-counter cream to treat insect bites and stop itching. Some people also take an antihistamine like Benadryl to control the allergic reaction.   You can also purchase products that are made specifically for bed bug itch.

If you have bed bugs, you won’t usually see the bugs themselves very often, if at all.  What you will see are signs they’re around.  You may find spots of blood on bedding, on upholstered furniture and sometimes on couches.

Avoidance of infested areas is the method for prevention of bedbug bites. Recognition of bedbug infestation and proper treatment of affected rooms (usually with the help of a pest-control specialist) is the best way to prevent bedbugs in the home. Prevention tips can include sealing your mattress in a bedbug-prevention casing can be beneficial.

In addition to hotels, bedbug infestations have been found in movie theaters, office buildings, laundries, shelters, in transportation vehicles, and other locations with high-occupant turnover where people may congregate.

Bedbugs bite and suck blood from humans. Bedbugs are most active at night and bite any exposed areas of skin while an individual is sleeping. The face, neck, hands, and arms are common sites for bedbug bites. The bite itself is painless and is not noticed. Small, flat, or raised bumps on the skin are the most common sign; redness, swelling, and itching commonly occur. If scratched, the bite areas can become infected. A peculiarity of bedbug bites is the tendency to find several bites lined up in a row. Infectious-disease specialists refer to this series of bites as the "breakfast, lunch, and dinner" sign, signifying the sequential feeding that occurs from site to site. In some people, the bites can take several days to develop. The signs may become apparent up to 14 days after the bite has occurred.

Freezing Dry Ice Spray: Bed Bugs can be killed, basically frozen to death with a liquid carbon dioxide gas (also known as gas from dry ice).  The advantages of this approach are like heat, it requires no chemicals and is perfectly safe.  A freezing bed bug spray can also be used to treat electronics.  The spray will penetrate objects such as furniture.

As a side benefit, other harmful bacteria and mold can also be eliminated using this treatment. Although you will have to leave your house during the heat procedure, it will not cause damage to your property or possessions.

Multiple home bed bug remedies are needed. Use the knock down spray to treat the underside of the drawers (Sterifab or Bug Patrol).  Then treat the inside of the furniture, including any drawer tracks.  Treat the back of the furniture as well.  If using bed bug insecticide spray, follow the use of the knock down spray with the residual spray to kill any bed bugs and bed bug eggs you might have missed.

Insecticides: Similar to the recommendations listed below for do it yourself bedbug removal, a bed bug exterminator will use the combination of a knock down and residual bed bug sprays.  They will also use bed bug dust (also called fossil dust or diatomaceous earth).

Don't be shy about asking questions as they move through the home. Reputable contractors should be willing and able to explain to you what they're doing, why they're doing it and how they're going to treat your problem. Some also offer or refer dog services, employing specially trained dogs to sniff out evidence of bugs.

Heat Units to Kill Bed Bugs: Bed bug treatment heat involves raising the air temperatures to at least 122F, the temperature needed to kill bedbugs and bed bug eggs.  A room or entire home can be sealed and heated to the required temperature.  Fans circulate the heat so that the insides of walls and furniture such as couches are treated.   The use of heat units to kill bed bugs is called thermal remediation. Bed bug treatment heat lasts for 6 to 8 hours and is 100% effective and 100% chemical free.  The downside is the cost, although all objects in the room will be treated.

After applying dust, place Zippered bed bug bed covers, which are  tested to be bed bug proof, over the mattress and box spring.  It is equally important to cover both.  If you can only afford one cover, cover the box spring and leave the mattress uncovered. Covers are used to trap any bed bugs and bed bug eggs you might have missed inside the mattress and box spring. Bed bugs can live for 12 months without feeding.

Structural fumigation is your last choice; this involves completely tarping your home and evacuating it for several days. During the process, gas is released to permeate every inch of the house, including behind walls and under floors.

Does Professional Bed Bug Treatment Work

11. Return Mattress and Box Spring To the Bed Frame: First apply bed bug dust (fossil dust)  in tufts, inside the box spring and other areas where bed bugs may be hiding. The dust is a natural product that will attach to the bed bugs, eventually causing death.

2. Vacuum All Surfaces: As mentioned earlier, the vacuum is one of the best tools for bed bug removal. First vacuum the entire room. Then use the crevice tool to vacuum along the baseboards. If you have carpet, consider steam cleaning.  For added protection, add a disinfectant designed to kill parasites such as PuraCleenRX to the cleaning solution.  Test on an out of the way area to see if the disinfectant will stain the carpet before using.  Inspect all carpet edges.

First, take objects out of the drawers and inspect for bed bugs:  Dispose of anything you can in a plastic bag such as books and newspapers. Place objects in the dryer on high heat for 30 minutes for added protection (if it can withstand the heat).  Objects such as electronics may hide bed bugs and cannot be sprayed.  Inspect the underside of lamps and anything near the bed.  Objects placed in the freezer for at least 5 days will also be bed bug free (there is some debate here, so if you can, leave items in the freezer for 2 weeks). This can be the perfect approach for objects such as stuffed animals, books and other items that can withstand the cold.

How Much Does Bed Bug Extermination Cost?

Also, look for a company that uses the integrated pest management (IPM) approach. Instead of relying entirely on pesticides or chemicals, IPM uses a combination of chemical measures, preventive measures, and sanitation to improve efficacy and limit environmental impact.

Professional Bed Bug Removal Process

With hard work and the right products, it is possible to be successful in your bed bug removal efforts. Unfortunately no one product will kill all bed bugs.  This is because bed bugs are good at hiding, so a spray that kills on contact, may miss bedbugs that are hiding or hatch later. Because of this, several bed bug removal products are required, including those that will kill any bedbugs you might have missed.  The following provides the bed bug products needed followed by step by step instructions for bedbug removal.

Professional pest control companies may offer several treatments to meet your needs. Spray pesticides are still common — the Environmental Protection Agency lists more than 300 products for mattress, room and whole-home elimination.

It is important to treat and inspect every inch of an infested room.  Bed bugs are very thin and can hide in areas as thin as the width of a credit card.   Always follow the manufacturers directions over any suggestions listed here.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bed Bug Removal:

Bed Bugs In Books? Help?
Recently I Got Some Books From An Anual Used Book Sale Where All Books Are A Dollar. There Hasn'T Been Any Reports This Year, But I Know A Couple Of Years Ago, It Was Reported That Bed Bugs Were Found In The Books They Sold. Because Of That, I Have A Few Questions... 1) How Can You Tell If A Book Had Bed Bugs? Is There Some Sort Of Test? 2) How Can I Get Rid Of Bed Bugs In Books If They Do Have Them? Do I Put Them In The Freezer? In The Oven? I'Ve Heard Of Both Options But I Don'T Know Which One Would Actually Work. Thanks

Bed bugs don't like heat. To see if there are bugs in your books, use a hair dryer on high setting - it won't kill the bugs, but they'll run out of the book.
Clothing has to go in a clothes dryer on high for thirty minutes - that would probably ruin a book.
I think your best bet is to buy NuVan strips and seal your books in a heavy plastic bag. Google NuVan Prostrip to see where to buy them.
"Nuvan ProStrips for Bed Bugs:
For Control of Bedbugs and Bedbug Eggs

NUVAN PROSTRIP may be used to control crawling bedbug nymphs and adults exposed to product vapors for 48 hours. In difficult to treat areas, a minimum treatment time of 72 hours will provide better results.

NUVAN PROSTRIP may be used to control bed bugs that have entered various items in an infested structure including, but not limited to: electronics, appliances, footwear, art work, collectibles, plush toys, clocks, radios, wall hangings, telephones, computers, printers, mattresses, box springs, books, lamps, furniture and other such items. Place infested items in a suitable plastic bag, poly sheeting, container or room that is closed to contain the NUVAN PROSTRIP treatment. Plastic bags or poly sheeting should be at least 2 mils thick. The closed volume for treatment should not exceed the volume to be treated for the size of the NUVAN PROSTRIP used.
Take care to avoid direct contact of the NUVAN PROSTRIP with the surface of items being treated. Seal items in the containment for a minimum of 48 hours to kill bedbug nymphs and adults. To kill any bedbug eggs, if suspected to be present, seal items in the treated space for seven days. Seal plastic bags and poly sheeting with as much air space around the treated article as is practical as this will enhance the exposure to the product vapors. Proper seal can be attained by any appropriate manner such as the use of tape, twist ties or other means. Professionals should test for adequate seal by testing for the escape of air from the sealed bag. Identify sealed treatment by a label indicating a pesticide treatment is in process that should not be disturbed by unauthorized persons. The label should include the date, pest professional person or company responsible and contact telephone number. When treatment is completed, remove treated items from the treatment in awell ventilated area and aired out for a period of not less than two hours.

Bed Bug Proof Material?
Is There Any Sort Of Chair/Sofa That Is, Or Maybe Mostly, Bed Bug Proof? I Ask Because I Wan'T To Buy Used, And Thus Relatively Cheap, Furniture To Furnish My Apartment But Am Afraid Of Bed Bugs And Whatnot. Would A Vinyl Chair Be A Good Idea? Or Leather? Thanks

Yes, leathers and vinyl would be better choices, but I don't think they'd be 100% fool proof. There are still stuffings and materials used inside the couch and under the seats/cushions. I don't think there is anything 100% fool proof other than 100% plastic.

How To Sue A Hotel For Bed Bug Bites And Clothes Replacement?
I Am Wanting To Sue A Hotel In Va For Bed Bug Bites My Family Sustained In May Of This Year. The Hotel Denied That There Were Any Bugs In Their Rooms. My Wife Was Smart Enough To Film The Bugs Their Shells, Egg Cases And The Bites. When The Hotel Staff Saw This They Admitted To Us That It Looked Like Bed Bugs And Brought In An Exterminator Which Also Said It Was Bed Bugs. We Filed A Complaint With The Health Dept Also. The Hotel Gave Us A Roll Of Quarters And Some Detergent To Wash Our Clothes And Moved Us To Another Room And Said They Were Sorry. We Moved To A Another Hotel Beside This Hotel And Noticed That Mattresses Were Moved Outside The Dumpsters Of The Hotel Where This Occurred Within The Next Couple Of Days (Which My Wife Filmed The Mattresses Also). My Wife Went To The Doctor For A Few Bites And We Bought New Clothes. Can I Sue This Hotel For This And Get Compensation For The Bites And Clothes. If So Do I Have To Go Back To Va To File This Or Can I File In My Home State? What Court Does This Fall Under And Where Do I Start? Thanks

?? You STAYED in the hotel after seeing the bugs? Case dismissed.

You did not need new clothes, you needed to WASH your clothes. That is all. Sue them for the cost of cleaning, assuming you had stayed for a while before noticing the bugs, none of which makes sense.

If you do decide to waste your time and money on a lawsuit, you have to do it in the state in which it occurred.

Uv Light Kill Bed Bugs?
I'M Going On A Trip Soon And I Am Looking To Buy These Germ Guardian Uv-C Light Sanitizers. I Was Wondering If Uv Lights Kill Bed Bugs Too?

No. They kill some bacteria by damaging their DNA & RNA, but that requires that the light penetrate the organism. It will never do that for insects.

Can Bed Bugs Kill A Pregnant Womans Unborn Baby During Early Pregnancy?
Can Bed Bugs Eat The Baby And Kill The Baby If You Have Your Period While Pregnant?

First, you don't have your period while pregnant.
Next, bed bugs can't get inside you and bite the baby. Bed bugs don't transmit any diseases, so they are no particular threat to a pregnant woman- just a nuisance.

Do Cats Eat Bed Bugs?

Gross, I hope not. Most indoor cats will kill a bug but don't always eat it anyway. But I'm sure if the cat somehow managed to get a bed bug and kill it, it might just eat it. But it's unlikely. Bed bugs are master hiders, and they run pretty fast, too. They are also pretty small. And I don't know if cats would like them too much since their bodes are mostly comprised of your blood. They definitely won't take care of your bed bug problem, if you have one. Bed bugs don't normally bite dogs and cats, but they could, especially if you weren't around for a while and one got hungry.

Home Remedies On Bed Bug Repelent .Com?

A great way to get rid of bed bugs is with lavender oil, they hate it.

Then give your bed a good cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and wash everything that is on it in hot water, rinse the bedding with lavender oil in the water. Also use lavender on the linen and in the carpet under the bed, or in the water you wash the floor with. Clean the walls and suck out any cracks or holes around the bed and surrounding area. They are small and live in the strangest places.
Another good thing to use is rosemary oil.
You will have to get an exterminator in to get rid of them properly.

How Do You Safely Remove A Bed Bug Cover Without Letting The Bugs Get Out?
I Have A Bed Bug Cover On My Dorm Mattress, But How Would I Go About Removing It Without Letting The Bugs Out All Over My Room? Also, How Would You Recommend Washing Or Removing The Bedbugs From It So I Can Use It Again?

If you have a cover on the mattress for prevention of bedbugs, but haven't seen any, you can take it off, wash & dry it. If you have bedbugs & can see them inside the cover, do not remove it. These covers are meant to be left on permanently. They really don't need to be washed unless the bed's been peed on. Just wash your sheets as usual. If there are bugs inside & you unzip it, at least a few will get out. Also make sure no holes appear in the cover, if you find holes use a strong tape to cover them. Bedbugs can live inside these covers for up to 18 mos+ without feeding.

What To Do About Bed Bugs In The Carpet?
I'M Pretty Sure I Have Bed-Bugs In The Carpet Of My Bedroom. I Always Spot Smallish, Black Bugs With A Reddish Tone On My Carpet Or On Piles Of Clothes On The Ground, And I Occasionally Get Small, Red Bug Bites On My Arms And Feet (Might Not Me From The Bugs, But I'M Pretty Sure They Are!) How Do I Rid My Bedroom Of These Vermin? It'S Pretty Terrifying.

I work for a pest control company, and Bed Bugs are really hard to get rid of. You can, however, minimize them if you can not afford a $400-$1000 service (depending on size of apt/home).

First, put all your clothes from your dresser and closet into large black plastic bags and put them in the kitchen. Seal them tight. Then, do the same for any sheets, curtains, etc. After that, vaccumm the carpet, and make sure to move the furniture around and vaccuum behind night stands, and even the baseboards and behind hanging pictures. Also, vaccuum your bed - take the mattress off and vaccum the box spring, all sides. try to get down into the crevices of the box spring and mattress. Also, vaccuum the bed fram, headboard, foot board, etc. Vaccuum inside the closet and dressers.

Take all those clothes and linens and take them to the dryer and all you need to do is out them on high heat for 10 minutes - no need to wash everything - it's the heat that kills the Bed Bugs.

You may want to do the same for the living room, couch, side tables, carpet in that room if you spend a lot of time in there.

This will not guarantee them to go away, especially since being you are not a professional, you do not know exactly what you are looking for and which areas to concentrate on, but it will minimize the effects. Also, you may have to do it more than once.

Also, they might not be bed bugs - they could be fleas, some kind of beatle, who knows.

Good luck!

How To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs?
Me And My Fiance Recently Found Out We Have A Major Infestation Of Bed Bugs. We Called The Local Exterminator. They We Giving Us An Estimate Of Around $1,000. There Is No Way We Can Afford That On Our Pay. Is There Anything We Can Buy At Home Depot, Or Other Stores That Can Help Us Get Rid Of The Little Bastards? Also What Could I Do In Case They Made Their Way Into My Computer?

There is a great DIY trap that is shown to be as effective, if not more, than the leading extermination stuff. http://lancaster.unl.edu/pest/bugs.shtml I hope this helps! remember, bed bugs cannot crawl up metal, so you might want to invest in a high metal frame for your bed, instead of wood. Another way to help repel them is through using essential oils. Citronella, rosemary, sage, mint, neem, and lemon are all good repellents, and smell good. dilute with water and sprinkle on your mattress, and linens. (caution, some oils can stain). Although, if you want to play nasty, i recommend diatomacious earth. It is the crushed shells of diatoms, small silicon shelled creatures, so tiny that they do not cut or harm humans or pets, but one swipe against a bugs exoskeleton and they will dehydrate and die. sprinkle it around the edges of the room on the carpet, and especially around your bed. this will also kill spiders, roaches, and every creepy crawly that steps foot onto it.

I Have Bed Bugs, The Pest Control Is Coming And I Will Have To Wash Every Single Thing In My Home!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Will I Have To Wash Leather Jackets And Bags?Do I Need To Wash Everything? I Know They Can Come Back But I Don'T Want This To Happen Soon After I Think I Can Finally Sleep Without Being Eaten Alive!!!!!!!!!!!Creepy Stupid Cockroaches That Had Nothing Better To Do Then Move Into My Flat ;(

Bed bugs can only survive on the fabric material. They don't live on the leather, but if the lining is cotton or any fabric then you need to wash all those jackets.

Good luck on the pest control. I had them before, but bed bugs had never gone away until I used Bed bug powder. It is natural powder, so no toxic ingredients and it worked great!!

If I Sleep In A Bed With Bed Bugs Can I Transfer It To A Clean Bed?
I Slept In My Boyfriend'S Bed. And I Found It, He Had Bed Bugs. I Have Been Itching Like Crazy Ever Since. I Thought It Was Just My Pregnancy Making My Skin Act Weird. Do Bed Bugs Make Your Skin Itch? Could I Have Transferred Them To My Clean Bed/Environment?

Yes. Bed bugs make your skin itch because they like to burrow and plant their eggs in dark, warm places such as skin creases (elbows, backs of knees, etc). As for transferring them to bedding, this is a huge problem because once you have any of their material on you (such as eggs or the bugs themselves) it quickly spreads to all your linens (bedding, towels, etc). YOU need to contact your local health authorities for proper instructions on how to rid your entire household of the bugs. I hope you are able to get things under control quickly. Good luck.

What Else Should I Do To 100% Make Sure I Dont Bring Those Things With Me. Thank You!!!!

Inside the covering of the bed, put in some Boric Acid (powder ant killer) Place some in all the boxes, books, and random stuff. You can use little baggies with some holes in them. This stuff dries out the hard shell of all bugs like ants, fleas, roaches and bed bugs. Do not breathe it in. You can vacuum it off when you get to your new place. It is easy to wash off of hands but don't get it into your eyes or mouth. Gloves would work when unpacking. They do sell those extra large zip bags for stuff. Have a pleasant move

Bed Bugs And No Hot Water? Help?
We Have Recently Started To Find Little Bugs At Night And Today We Are Cleaning Everything And I Mean Everything. I Read Somewhere To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs You Need To Wash Everything In Hot Water But The Problem Is That There Is No Hot Water Because Something Broke And I Am Asking What Do I Do. How Do You Get Rid Of Them (We Found Only A Few For Right Now). And How Do You Fix That Water Problem.

Bed bugs are a real problem. 1st a Dryer is all that's needed for clothing or stuffed toys ETC. (about 30min will do it)
Vac. and clean every thing you can. Get rid of the vac. bag and any cleaning towels; rags ETC. Look for a nest of bed bugs in the mattress or head bord and remove.

TIP: Get some help. (eggs have been know to live more that 6 months in cold weather) Have the home sprayed asap. Its the only way. Sorry!!! But shop around they may not go away after the 1st spray. Can be pricey. Also they will have a list of do's and don'ts

TIP: After drying the clothing put in a black trash bag and put in your car. The heat in the car will keep them safe to use.

Note: The eggs from bed bugs are sticky and stick to every thing.

TIP: Bed bugs don't fly. Keep the bed away from wall and night stands You can put a "small" amount of oil in a rubber bowl or container to keep them from crawling up the bed legs. Set the legs in the container and then pour in the oil. (when this is all over be very careful when removing)

TIP: Get a very good mattress cover or use 6 ply plastic and tape very well or get a new mattress and cover.

TIP: Empty out dressers; chest of draws and any thing you can before pest guy gets there so he can spray them too. The one that's missed alot is the closet shelf.

Main thing is to keep you from getting bite at night.

Will need more info on the hot water problem...could be as easy as the relighting the water heater to it being completely out.

Bed Bugs And Or Ticks?
We Just Moved Into This Motel Room For A Couple Of Weeks, Or I Hope It Is Not Longer. Anyways I Have Bites All Over My Arm. When We Looked At The Beds Here In The Room The Bedding Is Full Of Bugs. My Daughter Says The Ones She Sees Are Bed Bugs Yet My Husband Seen One That Looked Like A Tick. How Do I Know What They Are And How Do I Get Rid Of Them? Are They Harmful? Any Information On Both Are Great Please!

Those are bed bugs. Ticks would stay on your body where as bed bugs will only feast on you at night. They can carry Hepatitus B and plagues. In which you can suffer from delusional parasitosis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delusional_parasitosis
and PTSD (Post-tramatic stress disorder) That I would say would not be good for anyone in your family to have. You have the right since you are tennants in the motel to take this up with them. If they do not provide proper accomidations that are bug free and sterial you could claim negligance on their part or something.

All of your clothes must be washed and the whole room checked because that is how bedbugs spread from room to room. Its most likely that all the rooms are infected or someone who was staying in your room before you was infected and brought the critters with them. You should be moved to another room and it needs to be checked for bugs because if they can travel easily from room to room while the housekeepers are taking out the dirty linens.

To get rid of them you should get a new bed and carpet but some hotels and motels dont want to pay for that so a bug guy would have to come in a spary then they would have to scrub each bed and floor removing the eggs that are attached in the bed. Its pretty nasty and I heard of a case on the news about one family who brought in an infested bed that someone gave them and it spread thoughout the whole apartment complex they had to quarinteen everyone and all of their possessions and let the bug guys come in and kill all of them.
